Could you please confirm what should be answered to the question "are you now charged with on trial for or subject to an appeal relating to an offence in Canada" if the applicant had stay charges against him few years ago that were dropped without any negative consequences for him? Will it be correct to answer NO?
Is it correct that the following reason is applicable when charges are pending for the outcome
"You cannot become a citizen if you are charged with, on trial for, or involved in an appeal for an offence under the Citizenship Act, or an offence in Canada"?

Not 100% sure as the it is not my situation, but probably stayed. However that happened more than a year ago

Stayed does not mean they are dropped. Your client remains charged with a crime. They should consult a lawyer if their consultant is unsure how to advise.

Stayed charges can be unstayed.

As far as I know, stayed charges get dropped entirely after a year if they're not renewed by the Crown. It that case it's been well more than a year since the charges were stayed. In that case does it mean that they're dropped?

Then get documentation of that for your client.
