Hi I’m new to the site and looking for a bit of information regarding a working visa for tattooing. I’ve had a look through the skilled list of jobs and it’s not on there. Does anyone have any info on the type of visa I’d need and if it will be hard getting one?

I’m 36 and have I’ve been tattooing for 3 years.. By the time I’m looking to get my visa I will be tattooing for 4 years.

Thanks I’m advance.

You need a job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA (i.e. permission to hire a foreign worker). You can then apply for a closed work permit. The LMIA process is quite involved. See below:

How is this classed as a low wage job?
An LMIA is likely not an option. Tattoo artists are generally self-employed, renting a space at a shop but operating themselves, choosing their own schedule, their own clients, paid by the job etc. They are not employees of the shop being paid a set wage, i.e. $20/hour Mon-Fri, by an employer.
