I'm a sri lankan citizen and I applied for a tourist visa with my family to visit canada in Sri Lanka for tourism and it was refused. I'm unable to configure why it was refused.

I along with my family consisting of my wife and two children have travelled to U.S, Brazil, Mexico, U.K, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, France, Swiss, India, UAE, Italy and Japan. We have have stayed in these countries only between 10-15 days. I provided my last 6 months business account statement, last 6 months savings account statement with a balance of LKR 8,500,000/-, Fixed Deposits worth of LKR 17,000,000/-, All our 12 property deeds through out the country, last 3 years financial accounts of my company, last 3 years income tax statements with a net Return On Income of LKR 36,000,000/- per year, All my 7 company vehicles copies and our 3 personal vehicles.

Our travel plan was for 2 weeks provided with full detailed itinerary and provided them a full detailed covering letter as well of our plans for 2 weeks. This is the first time applying for Canada visa and have never been refused visas for any other countries in the past.

The reason they gave us is that they are refusing the visa based on:
* Travel History
* Financial Status and Personal Assets
* Purpose of Travel

I dont know what they are trying to say here. Could anybody help me to understand why this happened to me and my family.

Certainly doesn’t make sense. If I’m converting your salary correctly that translates to $250,000 cad dollars per year and you showed cash savings of $60,000 plus Canadian dollars. So not sure why they said financial status unless my conversion is incorrect
Your travel history is good too.
What did you say for purpose of travel? Did you submit all proofs of your prior travel?
You could order gcms notes to try to see visa officers notes. Maybe they doubted the authenticity of something

1. My purpose of travel was tourism for 2 weeks with my family. I provided them a detailed tour itinerary with day to day plan in Canada with time schedules, a list of places where we want to visit, provided them full hotel bookings for the duration of stay and flight itinerary mentioning the arrival date in Canada and departing date from Canada.

2. I provided mine and my family's all current passports and previous passports to enable them to know all our previous travel history. I also mentioned the countries where we have visited previously in my covering letter too.

3. All the financial documents by the bank were duly stamped by the bank supported by account confirmation letters from the branch manager containing the branch and bank contact numbers addressed to the visa Officer mentioning the account open date, account type, current balance in account and the branch.

So I dont know what went wrong. Could anybody tell me why this happened. Please advise me on this

You can’t submit any business accounts. Liquid savings and properties must be your personal properties. Did you travel for tourism or business to European countries and US? Was it within the past 5 years? Were you travelling during school vacation? Have you ever applied to immigrate to Canada?

Maybe try ordering notes on your file, to me seems like you have great financial status and travel history.

I got an e mail from the embassy today to submit mine and my family's passport directly to embassy. What could it possibly be? Because I got the refusal last week for me and my family, and today got an email to submit the passports. What could it be?

When you are asked for your passports it means they are going to stamp the visas on them.. Otherwise they would not have requested them.

This is weird.

Honestly based on the information you stated they would have no reason at all to refuse your application.

Likely a good sign, if they asked for passports means most likely approved.

I went to the embassy at around 8:30 am today. I was asked to wait for a while after I submitted our passports. Then after about one hour I got my passport and my family's passport with visa stamped in it. I got the visas of multiple entries until our passports expires.

Embassy? You went to the embassy and got your visa on the same day? I am no expert in every country and tourist visas but that seems peculiar. There are visa application centres. You take your passport there. They then take it to the embassy/consulate for stamping. Then you pick up the passport with visa but not within an hour. It takes a couple of days at least. Even PR travel documents must go through the VAC.

Are you sure it was the embassy of Canada? This is from Sri Lanka? I would be interested to hear from others who applied from the same country as you did as that is just so unusual.
