The first time I called, the agent was kind enough to tell me all the details without me asking asking him explicitly; however, when I called the second time, I had to ask for the status of the 4 stages.
I use Fongo app which assigns you a virtual Canadian number. From that app, you can call at 1888-242-2100.
It costs around $4-5 on the Android playstore.

If you want to contact CIC from India use Text now app. It is free and uses WiFi ... Select the area code for Canada and voila you can call CIC free of cost.

You will receive mep(medical passed) and BIL(Biometrics request) .....It usually takes 25-30 days after AOR....
