Hi, I’m an international student, I took a leave of absence from my study last fall
(Sep-Dec) and I worked full time during the absence. I took the leave of absence because I didn’t have enough money to continue the upcoming semester. I recently heard that students are not allowed to Work in authorized break or leave of absence . Now I’m really tensed.
Is there any thing bad gonna happen? How this is going to impact my upcoming applications. What should I do If a face any refusal ?

Yes you are only allowed to work full-time during authorized school breaks like Christmas holidays or summer semester for some programs. Unfortunately you are working illegally which should effect your eligibility for PGWP.

thanks for responding. Can you tell me if there’s any way I can make it up .... like Is there anything I can do before applying for the PGWP so that it won’t get rejected? Cause I have only one semester remaining.

You can apply for a new program and complete that to be eligible for PGWP

The issue is the missing semester that will be obvious on your transcript. I dont think they would find out about your working ilegaly under normal circumstances.
If you do another program and apply with just that transcript you will probably be granted PGWP.
No telling what will happen when you try and extend study permit.

Should I take assistance of an immigration lawyer?
A lawyer can only do so much man and let me explain why it looks dire in this situation.

Say I work for the government (either Visa officer or Judge)
Now you claimed a leave of absence (not sure for what reason) but had you not worked you could have claimed personal difficulties / mental state / family problems, etc.

But you explicitly worked during that time that indicates that either 1. your true intent is not to study or 2. you don't have enough money to study both which are red flags.

Now the govt. has evidence of you working so unless you have an incredibly unique and believable reason then you would be wasting your money.
