Hi all,

I have landed Canada 30 years ago but renounced my PR status when I stayed abroad afterwards. Planning to return to Canada now and I have applied PR once again and got approved.

My question is if the SIN card (never used for any purpose during my very brief stay back then) I have applied during my first landing 30 years ago still valid. And I have to apply to link my new PR with my old SIN?

Or I have to apply a new SIN? Coz the old SIN is linked with my renounced PR I believe. Since I wonder if my old SIN has been automatically cancelled at the time when I renounced my original PR.

Thank you for the clarification.

1. Show up at the Service Canada office with proof of your PR status, and they will re-instate your original SIN
