Hey everyone,
My work permit got approved on 2nd January and mailed on same date as well. It’s been almost 20 days but still I didn’t get my work permit. I called cic, they said I need to wait for six weeks.
Is there any way I can get my permit asap as I need to travel to my home country.
Please help me out.

Unfortunately no. It shouldn't take more than 3 weeks to arrive tho so just hang in there.

when you go into your online account and look at your approval letter, check the top left where it will say the address to which your work permit was mailed. Make sure that address is correct. Just in case... I had a case previously where it was mailed to a completely wrong address that was not associated to me in any way.

My address is correct.
Should I call them and ask for new copy immediately?

calling is one way, another way is doing a webform request for a new one to be issued. 20 days is long but it has been freezing temperatures of -40 in Edmonton and I don't know if they force post people to work in those conditions (probably not, they are unionized!). Might still be coming

They won't send another one until the 6 week deadline has passed. You do not require the work permit to return to your home country.
