Foreign nanny drama

so I had an open LMIA and posted a nanny job. I ended up hiring someone already in the country and I switched her name on the LMIA because she begged me. Her previous employer let her go and she was scheduled to leave the country the next month

Anyways I felt sad for her and gave her the LMIA. No strings attached! Yes I was naive l. I even paid for her work permit and did her work permit for her. I spent 2 days doing it (rookie)

She started working despite her work permit not valid (had to wait 4 months) she says she’s in status and can work and I said ok.

Long story short, things did not work out as my kids were struggling. I let her go but waited for her work permit (I thought at least that is the best I can do for her)

She reported me to labour standards and integrity office. There made me pay settled to her which I did. She claimed over time. I did not argue just wanted her to go away.
I was investigated and questioned. It was a horrible experience. She worked less than 6 months with me! Thank God I let her go soon enough

Seems like my LMIA will be revoked which I truly wish they would (I could careless) will her work permit be revoked too?

Serves you good for exploiting cheap foreign labour. You will also be scrutinized for future LMIAs.

Thanks! Minimum wage was paid. No cheap labour! Would not be doing LMIA again and I will be asking it to be revoked.

You don't need it to be revoked, you just hire a Canadian or PR. And you may well have the same issues if you just try to get rid of them, too.

Thank, I have a Canadian nanny now and expectation are clear. I feel less pressure. I guess I did not want to throw away the LMIA that was why I thought hiring a foreign nanny was a better option. Learnt a lot about the process

What lady?

Do you realize that you committed an offense by employing an illegal worker and can face repercussions from that? It was your responsibility to verify her right to work, which you didn't do. I would suggest not advertising that fact, as it is actually punishable with fines and jail time.

Yep I know. Learnt the hard way . The foreign nanny said she worked over time and reported to Lima office. After investigation they ask I pay $1000 of overtime which I did without hesitation. The investigation officer called and said my LMIA eligibility is under review and could be revoked. No more LMIA; joined daycare waiting list
