My license was suspended under Indian laws for drunk driving after i had filed my AOR. As my PCC was clear i got my COPR. I just wanted to know if that wold be an issue in the future. Please note that as per Indian laws legal limit is 30 mg/100ml while in Canada it is 80mg/100ml. My BAC was 76mg/100ml. Please advice

Hmmm, as long as it doesn't come up I think you should be fine. Not sure what happens if it does but could potentially be serious.

But they have recently become extremely strict on DUI offences. I think it might be useful to put this question to a lawyer because the only think I know is that they have made the penalties of DUI extremely stringent recently.

Here is a short article on it. I would recommend consulting a lawyer, which will be expensive but worth it IMO.

Thanks for your reply.. but i read on a website that all offences are compared with canadian laws for application purposes.. as all countries have different laws.. And hence need to be normalized.. is that true.. ?!
Possibly, but I haven't read about it so I am not in a position to comment on that. I only posted that link because this happened when I newly arrived in Canada in 2018 and I suddenly see this massive campaign enumerating the stringency of the new DUI laws.

If I were in your shoes i would probably have a short session with a lawyer but maybe other knowledgeable posters might be able to guide you as well.

Not to make you nervous or anything but 76 and 80 seem pretty close to an untrained person like me.

If you got your COPR and signed the declarations about not commiting any offences etc. Which I assume you must have done.
Then seek legal help beforehand just in case down the line the authorities know you'll be ready.
