My brother recieved his PR in 2019 and completed soft landing in June 2019. He spent one month here in Canada, got his PR card and returned to Middle East where he is currently working. He intends to finally shift from Middle East to Canada in June 2021.
- Is there any concern if he is away for 2 years after sof landing?

- He has to live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years.

Yes, any time you enter Canada, you need at least 730 days in Canada in the previous 5 years in order to meet the Residency Obligation.

I have a question in relation to your response, if you don't mind : I softlanded in August 2017. I am going to move to Canada in March 2020. After I move, if I am having to travel outside Canada and return after a month, will there be any issue?

In the first 5 years after landing, you have to have 730 days in Canada OR enough time to get 730 days. At any entry beyond 5 years from landing, you need to have 730 days in Canada.

Up to the CBSA officer at entry. You could be reported and lose PR or you could be let in.

Remember to leave time for business travel, holidays and emergencies. Many people arrive at the 3 year mark and run into problems.

How much of that kind of time would be good? I am thinking of moving 2 years and 3 months before the first 5 years of my PR would expire. Would that be a good idea?

Unless you work in an industry with a lot of travel that should be enough buffer time for any emergencies.
