Thank you for your input Bryanna. The reason why I want to be able to apply for their visas right now is that I want to move forward with my wedding plans (paying for my caterer, venue, getting my invitations ready, etc) It’s a DIY wedding so I’m getting all this ready for a year. I already have a venue and caterer but they had told me I should be booking and paying them downpayment as early as now otherwise the slot would be given to someone else. Would you suggest I pay them asap then just cancel if my family doesnt get approve? I hate having to waste the money though.

First, your family would be applying a year in advance which is not advisable.

Second, if you cannot include proofs of your forthcoming marriage/wedding celebrations then they do not have a strong purpose for their visit.

You may want to wait/not apply for their visas until you have these proofs

As the purpose of their visit is to attend your wedding, you would need to submit evidence of your wedding. That said, again, they are applying a year in advance which is not advisable.

More importantly, you must be prepared that maybe someone/a few of them may not be approved for TRVs. If you provide more information about the personal/professional/financial situation of each applicant then maybe we can suggest a strategy for their applications

Have you tried reading this thread, starting from the first page? Everything has been detailed clearly.
Yes, you are a great help and very informative. My case is just slightly different.
I am a little bit overwhelmed. We (they) are applying online for a TRV. My mother is the main applicant and my brother is the accompanying family member. He is a 22yo student.
In supporting documents there is only : IMM5645,passport and Digital photo
In Optional documents there is only : Schedule 1 and Client information.

Where can I upload his student ID,tuition fee photocopies and does he still need to make a cover letter? The invitation letter that I made was addressed for both of them and uploaded to the main applicant documents requirement.

I would really appreciate any advise, I just got stuck oh his part of application.

Thank you

Yes, you're doing the application wrong. The definition of "family members" is in the link:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5256-applying-visitor-visa-temporary-resident-visa.html#5256E4

Read the definition of "dependent children". Your brother is 22 years old and is not physically or mentally disabled. He has to create his own separate application.

You have to change the answer to "no" in the question in your mom's application about accompanying family members because, again, read the definitions in the link above.

@bellaluna Thank you for your advise. That makes perfect sense .I've now started my brother's application.
Again, I got stuck on few questionnaires.
It requires:
-Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter (I am to provide a letter of support,my birthcertificate and bank statement) and my our mom's bank draft??
-Proof of Means of Financial Support would be his school ID, transcripts ?

Am I uploading the correct supporting documents in their respective category? Should I include my NOA,T4,Employment letter (and where)

Thank you for the input. very much appreciated..

You can put these together with your bank statements and birth certificate.

School ID and transcripts aren't means of financial support...that's why students have a hard time getting approved for TRVs. Those ought to refer to his own bank statements and COE.

You should also be aware that you should combine these documents in one PDF file per upload. You cannot upload multiple files for one requirement.

@bellaluna - Thank you for the assistance.

I have applied online for both my mother and my brother.
My mother got her visa approval four days after we've applied and my brother got his 11 days after.

Hi Bryanna,

Could you let me know why it is not advisable to apply in a year's advance? I'm in a similar situation but the only difference is that I will have wedding/celebration receipts. I am inviting some relatives to my wedding next year September 2025 and I'm someone who likes to start things right away.

Please help! you seemed to be knowledgeable about this matter and I would appreciate your input.

Thank you!
