Hi,

I came to Canada under Open Work Permit and I'm working in RBC as full-time employee from the last 15 months. Will I get 50 points for my current job in RBC for below one in express entry?

My company did not have any LMIA as I hired with open work permit. and I have open work permit till end of 2021.

Please advise.

8) Do you have a valid job offer supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (if needed)?

A valid job offer must be

  • full-time
  • in a skilled job listed as Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B in the 2011 National Occupational Classification
  • supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or exempt from needing one
  • for one year from the time you become a permanent resident
A job offer isn’t valid if your employer is:

  • an embassy, high commission or consulate in Canada or
  • on the list of ineligible employers.
Whether an offer is valid or not also depends on different factors, depending on your case. See a full list of criteria for valid job offers.

No - unfortunately you will not get the 50 points. You need an approved LMIA to get the 50 points.

You haven't quoted all of the critiria above - there are additional criteria that have to be met to claim the 50 points. If you want to claim the 50 points without an approved LMIA, you would need to be on a closed work permit with your employer named on the work permit and have worked for the employer in Canada for at least one full year.

In that case, I am working as a regular full-time employee for the same employer mentioned on my closed work permit, which is LMIA approved. Am I eligible for the question, Do you have a valid job offer supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment? and claim 50 points for a job offer?

Because your current permit was LMIA-approved, you only need a new written job offer to be eligible.

"your current employer made you an offer to give you a full-time job for at least one year if you’re accepted as a permanent resident "

Hi,

I also work with RBC full-time employee. RBC will never give you an LMIA except you are a French speaker. So start removing your mind from LMIA with RBC. Work full time for at least 12 months and you will qualify for CEC. Also, bump up your IELTS score. will definitely help.

I applied using CEC, 1-year experience and got 485 points. However, i am still waiting on a decision to be made.
