The validity of a visa has nothing to do with status in Canada. There is no requirement to have a valid visa while in Canada. If there was, people with one-time entry visas would be illegal as soon as they got to Canada. CBSA determines status and length of stay upon entry.

No. Status cannot be granted beyond passport expiry. As her passport was only valid to March 2020 when she entered, that is the expiry of her status.
But, what if she already got her renewed passport here in Canada via Consulate office, will it supercede the old passport?
No. As I said, status and length of stay are determined at entry. She needs to apply for an extension.

The thing is, she didn't have the stamp from CBSA. So we didnt know her true length of stay.
Temporary resident status cannot be granted beyond passport expiry. That is what you need to go by.
But the passport is already invalid from the day it was renewed, so the new passport expiry is now 2029
I really don't know why you keep referring to the new passport. It is irrelevant. Status was issued upon entry based on the passport she had at entry. Her getting a new passport doesn't automatically extend the validity of her status with IRCC/CBSA.
Hi again, just wanted to confirm in my case. Our old passport with the actual visa also expires this April and new passport was issued in october 2019 but the stamp was issued till Feb 2021. So it is ok in my case with new passport, expired visa and valid stamp. Right?
