But didn't your passport come from the embassy of your country? Shouldn't the place of issue still be that city of your country where the embassy is located?
Place of Issue is the city where it was issued. Not the embassy. Some passports have that field in the passport itself. Check ur passport and fill place of issue from there.

And Country of Issue is the country that the passport was issued for. Even if the place of issue is Ottawa, the country which issued is not Canada.

See that's the issue as my passport doesn't have a place of issue written on it.
Now the problem is that, I got the new passport from Ontario through an agent. Prior to filling out the citizenship application form, I asked from the agent what should be the place of issue, Ottawa/Ontario or some other place. He said that we filed the application for the passport renewal in Ontario but the passport was printed and issued from the city of my home country where the consulate is located (capital city of my home country) and therefore that's the place of issue and not Ottawa/Ontario. Therefore, I wrote the name of the capital of my home country where the passport was printed and issued and from where it was shipped to Ontario, Canada. Not sure if I did the right thing or what you are saying is correct. I have received AOR already by the way. Not sure if I should clarify that through webform or wait

what your agent advised makes sense. Don’t worry too much.

My concern with whatever your agent told is where is it mentioned that your passport got printed in your home country? And in your home country is there only one City where the passport is issued? So which city office did it go? I believe that as you applied for your passport at Ontario and you reciever you passport in Ontario, the place of issue would be Ontario. The consulate may have internal processing of sending to home country for printing or not shouldn't decide where the place of issue is.

It shouldn't be an issue though but I think place of issue is always where your passport was handed over to you and not which city it was printed.

Makes sense. I hope it doesn't complicate things. I am pretty sure it won't. Secondly, we provided the answer as we believed was correct. No misrepresentation here

Hi Nshakelly

You said you did call IRRC to explain the error ?
So do I have to wait getting the AOR before calling them or using the web Form to explain this situation?
Can you explain for me please

Thanks so much
Hello, I actually realized AFTER getting my AOR, then called IRCC. Post the communication, I raised a Web Form.
However, I suggest you to raise a Web Form right away. They will tie your web form to your application based on your UCI #
