Inland spousal sponsorship - short term traveling

Hi everyone,
Anyone traveled during their inland spousal sponsorship application?

Currently received first AOR and awaiting AOR of OWP. Spinsor and PA would like to go out of country together for 16 days. Would we have any problems re entering? My visa expires the day we fly out, when we come back will it be renewed? Sponsor is canadian citizen. Any words of advice and documents needed would be greatly appreciated!
Also, what do you tell immigration officers when u come back to canada?

There's no black and white answer. You should have no issues re-entering. However re-entry is never guaranteed.

You must have a valid TRV or eTA to be able to board the plane to return to Canada. If you are a TRV holder, I would recommend that you renew your TRV before leaving Canada. 16 days doesn't give you enough time to get a new TRV.
