Hello guys,

This s my first post here and I'm a bit desperate, thing is that my study permit till expire on March 1st 2020, also on my passport I have the student visa same expiration date.
I know I will have to travel outside Canada in March, I will be applying for an extension in the new few days, however that does not allow me to return or travel outside Canada when my student visa on my passport will expire March 1st 2020.

I know a study permit is not a travel document, but in my case should I apply for a TRV or Visitor Visa from within Canada? I still have a valid study permit.

Please any help is appreciated, since I need to travel and will have an expired study visa, what would be my best option? I'm currently in Canada.

Thanks!!!

When are you completing your current study? Did you mean your student visa and study permit will expire March 1, 2020 and you want to travel before or after this period?

I need to travel after March 1st 2020, I will be applying for extension in the new few weeks with a completion letter from school that my studies will finish in April 2020.

Help please, I need to travel and have no idea what to do.

Thank you so much

IRCC won't automatically issue you a visitor visa if you extend your study permit. If you need a new visitor visa, you may need to submit a separate application. You can apply for a visitor visa from inside Canada since you're:
-already in Canada
-hold a valid study permit
-planing to leave and return to Canada in the near future
- or your existing visitor visa is expired or about to expired or was valid for only one entry
I will advice you should apply at least 2 months before you plan to leave Canada.

Thank you, I read that on IRCC website however it says I must complete all those requirements
And I do not meet this one > "your existing visitor visa is expired or about to expired or was valid for only one entry"

Should I still apply? or wait 3 months until I get approval for my study permit extension?

Depend on how important your travelling is. It is better if you can wait and get a study permit before applying for the TRV and travel.

Generally the advice is to get SP first then apply for TRV when applying in Canada, because when applying for TRV you will be selecting study as reason and will need to include the study permit.
