I would soon arrive to Canada as a student from the Philippines. What is the best option when it comes to the money i would bring to Canada? Should i exchange my Philippines Peso to USD or would it be better to exchange it to CAD already?

Either USD or CAD is fine. However, USD is the world's dominant reserve currency. Which means, it maybe advisable to come with USD as you're likely going to get it at most commercial banks all over the world. But very few bank outside Canada will have CAD readily available. It is also easy to exchange your USD in any bank in Canada.

It is always better if you directly convert your peso to CAD. It will save you a lot of money in fees and conversion rate later on when you convert from USD to CAD.
