Hello! I am trying to return to Canada to work. A bit of a back story - I am from India and came to Canada as a student in 2015. After studying in Ontario for about 3 years (Honours), had to discontinue and return back in 2019 for family reasons. Recently got married (wife completed MBA in India) and am thinking of coming back to Canada but hoping to arrive on a work permit. Thinking about having my wife apply for study permit for MBA and as a dependant I will get work permit. My wife have never been to Canada and has no work experience in India. I myself have no work experience as well.

Wondering if there are any other options for us other than study permit route as that would be very expensive. Kindly suggest. Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

If she already has an MBA, completing another one doesn't make sense.

You should be focusing on qualifying to immigrate.

Would also suggest that it is hard to get a work permit from abroad especially with no work experience. Agree that a second MBA will result in a refusal and OWP are not guaranteed for spouses of international students.

Yea, was afraid that would be the case. Was also looking at Express Entry, but unfortunately didn't qualify without work experience.

Any other options, please? Looking to talk to a immigration lawyer as well, soon...

There's no immigration option without work experience.

Your only option is the study permit route (which, as you said, is expensive). Note that if your wife is approved for a study permit, there is no guarantee your open work permit will be approved as well.

Was under the impression it's almost guaranteed (i.e. open work permit for spouse of study permit holder). Will try this out and see what happens.

Which us luck! Thanks again everyone for your time and advice

It's not guaranteed. Unfortunately we do see plenty of refusals here. I would say it's about 50/50 for approval/refusal.
