You can't
Who you can sponsor
You can sponsor your own parents and grandparents, related by blood or adoption.

In case of divorce or separation, you can sponsor your parents’ and your grandparents’ spouses, or conjugal or common-law partners.

Example 3: Sponsoring your grandparents, your mother and your step father
In this situation, you’ll have to submit 2 separate sponsorship applications: 1 per couple.

On your grandparents’ application, one of them (either your grandmother or your grandfather) will be designated as the main applicant, called the principal applicant. The other will be designated as a dependant.

  • If you designate your grandmother as the principal applicant, your grandfather will be the dependant.
  • If you designate your grandfather as the principal applicant, your grandmother will be the dependant.
On your mother’s application, your mother must be the principal applicant, because she’s related to you. Her partner can’t be the principal applicant. He’ll be listed as your mother’s dependant.

Are you an applicant for PGP 2019 and already put your step's mom name during the EOI? Then you can't change the name to sponsor your mom.

If you intend to apply for her in 2020, then what name you have in your passport is irrelevant. You can apply for your biological mom, her spouse (if any) and her eligible dependents.

If you want to apply for your dad, there have to a separate EOI for that. In this EOI you can apply for your dad, your step mom and eligible dependents. There is no need to consult with any lawyer for this.

Hi all

I have a few questions and hope someone can assist:

I received AOR. what’s the next step. They haven’t asked for any documentation.

Also I applied for my mom n dad. However they have only mentioned my dads name. My moms nameisnt mentioned. Is it because he’s the PA?

I had my baby girl In August end. Should I inform Immigration as now I have a file number?

Your response will be much appreciated. Thank you

Re-read the original post again.
Hey Guys!

Need help with a recommendation for a consultant in India or Toronto, for parental sponsorship for a difficult case.... My passport has my step mother's name but right now I want to sponsor my biological mother. Help please.

You gave a 2 word answer rather than asking the same question to the poster that you asked to me. You yourself didn't know that the applicant applied in 2019 or planning for 2020? You didn't knew that the applicant got EOI for biological mother and had problem in passport having mother's name of step mother. Before jumping to conclusions or giving advices do a little research and ask more to the person who has a question. 2 word answers never helps. I have seen a lot of people think your replies are rude. So I don't need to make you realize about your attitude.

Only Principal applicant can fill. Spouse and dependent column in same form to fill.
No need to fill separate form for each one.
@robertp and @YULIA-2016

Thanks. Looking at "Country Specific Requirements" in sponsorship eligibility letter, I followed the instructions and it led me to two requirements:
1) Supplementary Information [You have already answered, this is only to be filled by principal applicant]
2) Birth certificates issued in this country (India) - Do I need to provide this for both principal applicant and dependent OR just the dependent?

Also, I dont have any birth certificates, neither baptism certificate but I do have school certificates & voter IDs confirming date of birth.
  • So, providing these school & voter ID is sufficient OR should I attach an explanation letter explaining 'Birth Certificates' are not available?
  • Can I combine School Certificate & voter ID in one PDF?
