Japan PCC

Hi Guys

Need a bit of clarity. I was informed by IRCC to produce PCC for my stay in Japan. Now the trouble is that I did not stay in Japan for 6 months. it was actually 4 days short of six months. While I went ahead and reached out to the Japan Embassy in New Delhi who were prompt in helping me with the application of PCC from Japan, it has been almost 45 days since my request and the PCC is still not available. they don't even know when will it arrive.
1. What do I do if PCC doesn't arrive from Japan in the 60 days CIC has allowed me to gather it?
2. Do I really need a PCC despite producing evidence that I did not stay there for 6 months? And yes I have written to IRCC informing them about my duration of stay being less than 6 months but not heard back yet.

Has anybody else been in this situation? all help here will be much appreciated.

Ok! here is an update. I got my PCC from Japan today. It was in a sealed envelope. I went to the Canadian High commission to check if I can open it and upload. They confirmed that I can open it and upload it to MyCIC account. Doing that... !

Hi there,

From what I can read online, most people don't open the envelope, just scan front/back and ask for either permission to open and scan/upload the content or an address to mail it to.

At least that's what I'm doing, to be safe.

I am awaiting for my Japan PCC for which I applied on the 13th of July. So, have you eventually opened the envelope and uploaded it via MyCIC account? What stage were you in before the PCC submission/received the request for the PCC? Has your status changed since you uploaded the PCC?

I didn't open the envelope. I scanned the front and back (there is a seal) and added a LOE to ask either permission to open/scan and upload the PCC or an address where I should send it to.

I have not been requested it yet.

Kindly let me know where to get the request letter. We have received ITA one week back and i heard it takes 2 months to get PCC. Please let me know what are the other documents needed while goin to Japan embassy.

If I am correct IRCC mentions online that for some countries, you have to upload "I require a letter from IRCC to obtain this Police certificate" instead of the PCC itself when you complete your online PR application.

You can try going to the Japan embassy with the ITA letter and see if they would accept it (they did for me, although I was in Japan at that time) but it is totally up to them. They might as well reject your request and wait for the letter from IRCC, which is the normal process.

Hi Sindu, I also had applied for PCC Japan at Chennai Consulate, I have given a written request letter along with IRCC covering letter, Resident card, COE and passport copy. If you are applying for your spouse, then you need to submit similar set of documents too.

Yes, it would take 2 months or more to process PCC Japan and the same was communicated by Japan Security officer. But as per Tokyo Metropolitan website, the processing time they have given as 2 to 3 weeks, more over these are very confusing and there is no tracking.

As I need to submit my PCC to Canada Immigration on or before 20th Oct, which is the extended date after submitting my PCC Japan.

We received the same request for my spouse's sponsorship PR application. We submitted the documents and fingerprints in Banglore. Not sure when we can expect to receive the PCC and how can we request CIC for more days just in case it does not comes in 60 days.

My AOR is 27 Dec' 19 and today received request for Japan PCC for my spouse who is secondary applicant. Need to do the same early next week. I want to know if anyone has done it from india before. What was the experience? how much is the fees?

And most importantly, did it come within 60 days?

My case is the same. Did u get PCC as it is more than 30 days for you? Did u take prior appointment for the same? We are also taking it from Japan consulate in Bangalore.
