Hi,

I am planning to apply for India PCC from San Francisco Consulate. For the PCC I need to fill the Personal Particulars form.

Q10 of the form is :

References: Names and Addresses of two responsible persons in the applicant’s locality who can vouch for the applicant.

Can I give the name of my parents as references ? There is nothing that explicitly forbids it but obviously it is a bit of a conflict of interests thing as well. Has anyone given their parents name and got the PCC without issues ? Do they call upon the people mentioned as references ?

Thanks and Regards.

No. The references can't be parents. The references have to be not related to you by blood or by marriage and have to be residents of your neighbourhood.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. Also the references have to be India based and by neighbourhood you mean that of Permanent India address- is that correct ? Now what if I don't have any such references . I have hardly lived in my permanent India address for almost a decade ? Is that a problem ? Any idea on this one ?
Thanks and Regards.

I'm in this same situation. I've given my in-laws' address and I don't think anyone in their neighborhood knows me enough to vouch for me. What is the workaround for this?
