I have almost the same problem. My common law partner is married back home but he wants to sponsor me as his spouse, instead of his real wife. We are both foreign workers in Canada and has been together for a year now. He is a skilled worker and i am not, so he has more chance of applying for PR.

He has not filed for annulment yet because they tried to work things out but still failed. We are having a baby soon, and i'm worried that my baby and i will go home after my 4 years in canada.

Pls. Help. Thanks.
hi can you please give us feed back how canada decide on your status?

Payment done narin po pero wala pa Po sked for biometric thank you

Hello Sir/ Mam,

I would like to seek help. I am married last 2007 but we already got physically and totally separated on Jan2019.
Now I have a boyfriend who is a PR in Canada and was also divorced as of 2018 but his marriage in the philippines is not yet annuled.
In case I file a legal separation here in Phils. from my ex husband, can my boyfriend marry me in Canada once I get there? even if I am not annuled but just legally separated in Phils., will Canada allow me & my PR boyfriend to get married in Canada? thank you so much in advance

Of course not. You are still legally married to your ex, so any new marriage would be bigamy, which is illegal, and not recognized by Canada.

I mean what if I got a legal separation (not annulment) here in the phils. will Canada honor that legal separation or I still have to get divorce in Canada? thank you so much for the response.

Legal seperation in the Philippines does allow you to get married again ...only annulment will.,

padadalhan ka ng IRCC kung kailangan mo na ng Biometrics...pag pinadalhan ka ng request it does not mean na ok na papers mo kasama lang yan sa procedures nila

I understood what you meant. Even if legally separated, you are still legally married and therefore CANNOT marry someone else.

@evebuenafe hello, I think we're on the same situation. We applied conjugal and got refused in July 2019. We got married Nov 2019 in HK. He's a PR, was married in the PH but divorced in Canada in 2018. We submitted our application in Nov 2019, immediately after he returned to Canada. My app was transfered to MVO on Jan 7, 2020, completed medical, biometrics and approved SA.

How's your application? Thank you! :)
