Hi everyone.

Our Outland Family Sponsorship is in process.
If approved, we would like to do a soft landing in Dec 2020 for a week (will set up SIN), then return to home country. (A friend in Canada will courier my PR Card to me)

The permanent move will happen in July - September 2021.

I have a couple questions and hope someone can help.

  1. If we fill out the goods to follow list on our soft landing, in order to be duty free, is there a time when we must return with our goods listed? What if there’s change of the goods/money increased?
  2. Do we need do show them our bank statement when we do soft landing?
  3. If we have no ties in Canada, after our soft landing in Dec 2020, do we need to file taxes for income in our home country (Dec 2020 - Jul/Aug 2021)? The money we earn in our home country after soft landing, do we need to pay tax when we take it to Canada for our permanent move?
  4. We will move to Canada permanently 7-9 months after soft landing, will they question our intention to stay in Canada and then disqualify my PR?
  5. How long will it take to get the SIN ? (If we only stay in Canada for a week, does it mean we need our friend to courier the SIN to us as well as the PR card?)
  6. For goods to follow, what if I don’t have receipts for the golds that others give my baby as a gift?

Many Thanks!

IRCC has become extreme strict with prof that you will move to Canada once you get sponsorship approval so I would be prepared for this. We have seen IRCC go as far as asking for resignation letters from current jobs. Unfortunately steely many never relocated so current applicants are being punished.
2. There is no POF for family sponsorship.
3. No you won’t have to file taxes for 2019.
4. You will need a lot of proof that you are actively planning your relocation. There are many posts on the subject
