Passed Citizenship Test - Status Has Not Changed to "Decision Made"

Hi everyone,

New user here. Passed my citizenship test in Vancouver last week on November 20, 2019. The representative was great and told me I should expect my ceremony notification in the next 3-4 months. So I'm assuming that's the final decision? That being said, when I checked my application status online today (Nov. 28) it still says, "In Process". Is this normal? I notice on the spreadsheet many have had their status change a day after passing the test and I've read on the immigration website that ceremony invites are only sent out AFTER a decision has been made. Hence my cause for concern. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks in advance.

I mean, if I'd been told it was all good and approve by the agent at the test/interview and it still wasn't updated online after a full working week I'd be calling the IRCC.

Certainly from what I've seen (and I've not read anywhere near everything on here), most people get a DM within 3-5 days unless additional information or whatever was requested. I know some people have pending clearances, or even get an FP request after interview, but I believe they're not normally told "everything is done".

Of course, I'm not sure exactly what the OP was told. I mean I can't even remember the exact words said to me. But calling the IRCC might put your mind at ease.

Yeah that was exactly my thought process too. I have nothing pending as far as I know of or have been told by IRCC. Just thought I'd check here first before contacting IRCC. Thanks!

I applied December 2018, took my test in June 2019 and didn't get to Decision Made in ECAS until last week, November 2019. It took me 5.5 months between passing the test (20/20) to DM, and my circumstances aren't unusual.

That is crazy. Can you recall/share what they told you at the test? Did they say (for example) we’re just waiting in some (standard) security checks?

At least test was quick, my timeline in sig is similar overall but my > 6 month wait was FP to Test. And was over 7 months from IP.

Yeah, it has been a long wait for me. After the first 3 months I contacted IRCC by phone and that was a complete waste of my time; the rep on the line gave me no information and just reminded me that anything under a 12-month wait is considered to be routine/standard. I contacted my MP and I was told it was a security clearance delay, but who knows how accurate that is. I never requested the file notes so I have no way to know for sure.

Just an update. Its coming up on two weeks tomorrow since I passed the citizenship test so I ended up calling IRCC today just to make sure there wasn't a reason why my application status still says, "In Process", when I check it online. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and I didn't want to end up waiting months for nothing if there were any potential surprises like, "Oh by the way, we need one more thing from you so we can complete your application and make a decision."

Turns out everything is fine and the representative said my application is finished and their system says a decision has been made. That's good enough for me! I assume its possible for some applications they update the status on the applicant end when they email out the ceremony invitations. I could care less now if it says, "Decision Made" on my end. I'll just wait now for the ceremony invitation. If you're in the same situation, it doesn't hurt to call and ask. Good luck everyone!

Crazy. And another example how IRCC could easily reduce call volume by having a web system capable of more than 5 sets of updates!

Glad all good for you, hopefully you’ll get the oath very soon :)
