Hello Everyone,

I have mailed my wife's sponsorship pack to CIC. After 15 days mailing the package, she started have anxiety problem. So doctor started giving her antidepressants and things are normal now. Doctor is saying to let medicine continue for 6 months. While filings docs we didn't mention anything about this issue to CIC as it occured after mailing the package. We have not received medical request yet.How should I inform CIC about this ?

Please advise

A caution, I'm not an expert nor a lawyer.

As far as I'm aware, the only form from the principal applicant that requires them to answer anything on medical is elmm5669. But the entirety of the question is [has the principal applicant] ever "had any serious disease or mental disorder?"

The import of this question depends entirely upon whether the disease or mental disorder is 'serious.'

It is up to you and your spouse and doctor, but an anxiety issue that is treated with relatively common antidepressants for a relatively short period does not sound like it meets common-sense definition of 'serious.' And if so, it would not seem to require notifying CIC or constitute any misstatement on you or your spouse's part.

You still have your medical ahead. Unless far more 'serious' than your description makes it sound, leave it be. Now, don't lie to the medical team at your medical check or any CIC staff or in written form (of course), but my own opinion is this doesn't require additional anxiety on your part (or your spouse's) unless there is more to the anxiety attack and treatment than you described.

Spousal sponsorship can’t be medically refused unless there is a danger to Canada. She should mention her current medication and struggles but nothing to be worried about,

Thanks for your reply. Do I need to separately write any email to CIC or doctors performing medical check up will inform on their own ?
