Deferring study after ARRIVING in Canada

i have an offer for JAN 2020 class and Im thinking of deferring my program for september intake instead ,is there any negative impact on my study permit ?I dont have the plan to go to canada right away even if I already have a study permit for the Jan 2020 class ,its just that I am not yet prepared

Even I am in question of thinking to defer my application from jan2020 intake to sept2020 intake (study permit from 2020 to 2022 since 3 year program). This is due to a complication where my wife got rejected second time (just got result on 27th nov 2019, reason - VO not convinced that she will return back to the home country).
Now, in this case if I am also a relative studying there, and she has to state that in the documents, won't there be a higher chance of rejection?
Hence, I am trying to weigh all the pros and cons before taking any decision. Can someone please help me here ?
Have you even checked to see if your school will allow you defer? Some schools and programs do not allow it.
Spouses of international students aren’t guaranteed a permit/visa so your spouse may never be able to accompany you while you study. You will have to determine whether you still want to study in Canada. If you don’t study in Canada or defer your admission it will not hurt the chances of your other family member. Having family in Canada may lead to issues proving you will return home after your studies though.
I had contacted the college regarding this. Even though direct defer is not there, I’ll have to withdraw my application, and reapply for the next intake. And all these details will have to be given to the ircc.

So you can’t defer your admission. You will be reapplying for a new study permit and reapplying for the program. Would order CAIPS and try to address and of the concerns. You may have to study elsewhere.

Ok, so your suggestion is for me to proceed with my study permit and start my program and I should ask my wife to research via CAIPS and apply for sept2020 intake appropriately.

Getting a TRV will be difficult but SOWP would be similar chance or maybe a bit better over time. Whether you choose to study in Canada is a personal choice. You would also have to go into it knowing that your wife may never get an SOWP during your studies.

Talking to an immigration lawyer will not give you any benefits, they will tell you the same things you already heard here. Order notes and do your best to address their concerns.
Hello, I have similar issue. I have my study permit for January 2020 which start off with a foundation program before the main program start in April but I want to apply to a new school and new program for September intake, So after my foundation program which ends in March I intend on waiting till September 2020 to start off at the new school. Will I be able to work during this period and will it have any effect on my work permit application? Please I need your advice
