Visa for Cousin(s) bonafide intentions

Greetings fellow Members!

My brother is getting married in Ontario and as it is a small function as compared to a large gathering of a typical big fat Indian wedding he intends to have only his cousins from India to attend his marriage.

Pursuant to which he has sent sponsorship letters (duly attested by Oath Commissioner) to all of my cousins including me. I have come to know about a notion that our visas might get rejected on the fact that we are applying as young applicants and as our parents are not accompanying us to the wedding our bonafide intentions might not be proven.

I put this before the forum to assist us in this case.

A suggestion on accompanying documents is much appreciated.

Do you and your cousins have savings of about CAD$10,000 per applicant?

Those attested sponsorship letters won’t do much.

The visa officer cares less about why you will go to Canada than why you will leave Canada and return to India.

Yes, we do have that much amount of fund, could also furnish return airline tickets in case required.

One of us is a student and we can arrange for a valid local sponsorship letter by his parents.

Should we file a group visa or an individual application would be helpful?

do not buy any airline tickets before the visa issued. Even fully paid airline tickets do not guarantee approval.

if you ask me, in my observation here, applying as a group won’t really change things. We’ve even seen spouses apply together and get different results.

just make the application as strong as you can by showing ties to India.

You have to apply separately. Not being able to prove strong ties is exactly why many young people get refused. Try your best with registration for university and any other evidence. If you have done other international travel needing a visa to countries like US, Australia, UK, etc. that would help as well. Be sure to include any formal invitation letters as well. As already said don’t book any tickets.

A stable, long-term way to earn money (preferably full-time permanent employment in a lucrative career), a fat bank account, and travel history to visa-required countries, as said above.

The first two are most important.
