Hello everyone.

My wife is the primary applicant. We have received an invitation from Saskatchewan to submit our documents and application. I have a son from my first marriage. And my ex-wife refuses to provide me with any documents for my son so I can declare him in the application. I have his birth certificate, and I will get his medical done also. Is it enough or do I need to provide his passport also? He is not gonna travel with us, and his mother refuses to have his passport made.

Please help.

Regards,
Umair.

I found this info in dependent child section of IRCC terms - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/non-economic-classes/dependent-children.html

All your family members, whether accompanying you or not, must be declared on your application and be examined. If family members are not examined, it is generally not possible to sponsor them at a later date. This includes children in the custody of a former spouse or common-law partner.

So if you dont declare you cannot sponsor them later. And if you declare, then you have to produce the birth certificate and passport.

In your case, I prefer not to declare about the non-accompanying child.

I cant leave my son like this. If I dont declare him, I wont be able to sponsor him ever. My agent said that birth certificate, and medical is enough. Passport is not mandatory since he is not travelling with you.

Passport is a mandatory document. Else dont submit the application until you get the passport made for your son. There was an application returned couple of days back for not attaching dependent child documents.

The link that you sent me, doesnt say that you need a passport. Or am I missing that part?
