PACE (University of Winnipeg) Network Security - Waitlist

Hello All,

My study permit application was approved for PACE (University of Winnipeg) Network Security program for Feb 2020 intake however, my seat for the program has not been confirmed yet and they put me on the waitlist!

I am not sure what to do if I am not able to secure a seat for the Feb 2020, since I already received my Visa.

Anyone gone through similar situation? or could you please let me know your valuable suggestions?

Congrats on your visa, have you paid your first year tuition fees? Or you only paid deposit fees to book your seat ?

Actually the total tuition fee comes around $22500 CAD and I paid $17000. I have to pay the rest of the amount only by Dec 15, 2019.

The problem is I got the visa and they put me on wait list, so not sure whether I will get a seat for the Feb 2020 intake.

May I know your status?

Wow it’s really unusual to get a permit without having a confirmed seat. Guess you have few options. You could apply to another program as a back-up. February is an odd start date so you’d have to apply for a summer or fall 2020 start date. You could also ask to be considered for the next semester of the PACE program if you don’t get a seat in February. If things change just update your profile online and land with your updates admission letter.

The same situation is happening with my brother. He has classes in Jan 2020 for Supply chain management in the university of Winnipeg. He got Visa but suddenly he received an email today that his name is in waiting list.

Can anybody help me to understand what is the possibility of getting seat.
What should be the next step.

Honestly no idea what to do next! did he get any updates recently? or did they asked to join in Fall 2020?

I asked them to confirm that whether we have a chance for this intake or not, if not I can defer my application to Fall 2020, but no positive response yet... May I know if I managed to get an offer from another college in winnipeg, then can I go with my current visa & study permit (which is issued to U of winnipeg) and once I reach there, go to U of Winnipeg and request to transfer my fees to another college and subsequently inform CIC regrading the change in my status?

You would need to provide admission letter from the other college when you land and also change your college and program only on your online profile before you land. It is probably too early for the school to determine if you will get off the waitlist.

Ok, if I defer to Fall 2020 (same university/program) I can extend the study permit (currently valid till 2021/8/30) only after landing in canada or can I request CIC to update the visa expiry date now? is that possible?

I have deferred the admission to Aug 2020 and confirmed the seat. Are you got the acceptance for Network Security program? If so, since only 3 months left to start the program not sure your seat will be confirmed once you receive the visa...

One thing is not clear to me that is how suddenly some one get email to be in waiting list? How come some one is confirmed a seat but later told that you are on waiting list?

I'm really confused how with a unvonfied seat someone get a SP? Can you guys share exactly when you came to know you are on waiting list?

Hey man. Sorry for replying so late. I had deferred my acceptance to May,2021. Already applied for Study Visa under SDS category. Problem is biometrics not open yet in India so application wont proceed further without it. I got my GIC certificate, paid one year tuition fees, medicals done.

I guess they are rejecting for Sept,2020 intake. It would be stupid of them to reject 2021 candidates without any valid reason. Its bad for business which is especially needed in these bad times. I just went ahead and applied with a decent SOP. Go ahead if you are ready.
