Minor application requested for interview

Hi All,

I am asking this for my friend. He applied citizenship for his son as single minor applicant. After 5 month waiting after in process, he received a email from cic asking to take his son to the interview office to verify all the documents. Do you guys know this is a common request for a single minor application? Thanks,
