That's great...Canuck_in_uk...you are a lifesaver. You have just unloaded heavy load on my shoulders. Thank you very much and all those who have been helpful.
Don't understand how you have the dual citizenship? Why are you adamant that you don't want to renew your SA passport again. Something doesn't right about this situation.

The renewal process when outside South Africa is hectic. So I do not want to travel outside Canada for the next 5 years

Hello, I have a question on similar topic and really need your help. I've received the ITA and need to solve this item in 50 days. My thoughts are that someone might have dealt with this tricky situation.

I have dual citizenship, Romanian and Moldavian, with the Moldavian passport expired. I haven't lived in Moldova within last 8 years, but for PR application I still need to bring a Police Statement from Moldova as well.
Later last year I have got a Police Statement, and haven't lived in Moldova since. In this case, it should be valid for use.
But, here comes the tricky part. In the meantime I got married and changed my last name. I only managed to change my name in the Romanian documents, but didn't have the chance to change them in the Moldavian documents. So, the Police Statement has my maiden name in it, without mentioning that my passport has expired recently.

Because of the last name change, I can not change my passport that easily. I will need to go through the embassy and try to change my surname to the one after marriage, that should take some good time, then change my National ID, and only afterwards update my passport.

So, what can I upload for my PR? Just the Police Statement with Maiden name and expired passport with Maiden name for now? Is it risky, since the passport is expired? Can I upload a National ID with Maiden name instead?

Please let me know,
Thank you!

It's fine to have documents in both maiden and married names.

Thank you, but is it okay if I upload my expired passport to prove my identity OR can I just upload my National ID card?
Documents such as your birth certificate and marriage certificate are what prove the name change.

Did you ever lived in Moldovia for at least 6 consecutive months during past 10 years or since you turned 18 (whichever is shorter)? If yes, then you have to provide correct police certificate with your correct current name.
