Pre-Assessed..
Hello,

My mom is from Visa-exampt country.

She was here multiple times already for the last 2 years.

1. 2017 May, She visit was about 1 month and left.

2. 2017 Nov, she came back and stayed about a 6 months.

3. After the 6 months 2018 Mar, we went to our home country together and came back together after a month.

4. Came back to Canada after a month May 2018, she extended her visa and stayed about 13 months on a legal status

So shes been in her home country for ab pi ut 4 months now and I want her here as I am pregnant with morning sickness.

Do you think CBSA will deny her entry and send her back to her home country?

I heard mixed stories about this, any hands on experience like mine?

TIA!!

She left pretty recently. You have to remember that she must not be living in Canada. You will also have think about whether you want her to visit after the baby and plan strategically. Agree she is unlikely to be denied but you never know if she will get the full 6 months or she will be able to extend so make sure you are considering whether you need your mother to visit for the delivery or after the baby is born.

I know...

That's why I applied for her super visa but it's been 4 months not approved yet...I was hanging in there so far and my husband is going business trip next for 2 weeks I guess I am scared...coz i have 2 years old to take care while I'm puking you know.

Now I've come to my senses and revisiting...

Thank you both for your answers!

Just do not include any statement anywhere either at the border or in any application that she is coming to look after the 2 year old as strange as it sounds that could be taken as illegal work. Once in the country obviously the reality is different but before that IRCC/CBSA can sometimes be awkward about it should that be interpreted as the sole purpose of visit.

Oh i learned a lesson from my previous mistake.

I thought its really weird that they could see it as illegally working but well.

Thank you :)

Agree it could be seen as weird given everybody has grandparents who from time to time look after their grandkids . The intention is dissuade some who come with the sole purpose of doing the same for an extended period whilst the parents go out to work this in effect in theory taking away employment from a resident.

Obviously once grandparents or family members have their visas and are in the country the reality will be different and IRCC/CBSA are not stupid but they have made the effort in the application and entry process to dissuade illegal working.

I just wanted to let you know that my mom arrived in Canada with no problem.
I wrote a letter for her to show it to the officer on Toronto airport as she does not speak any English and my mom said the officer did not even look at the letter.

I am following up coz i come here looking for some answers and many time i don't see what eventually happened and wondered.

Hope this helps someone!

But you know how it can be worse and random as there are no set rules when it comes to visitor visa.

Thank you!

Glad it all worked out in the end and hope she enjoys her stay.

All anyone here can do is speculate on the potential worst case so people are prepared but often there is as in your case no actual issue with CBSA.
