Hi everyone,

I just got my invitation to apply under CEC (Ontario). My common-law partner is Canadian and has always lived in Canada. We met after I moved here. How do I enter this correctly? Accompanying or unaccompanying? Not mentioning it in the status seems wrong. I put unaccompanying now, but then the same travel history etc. is required for my partner as it is for me.
Would be great if someone could point me to resources answering this.

Thank you!

Thank you. It just seems strange to me that my partner, who is not factured in this application, would have to enter all the personal information, work history etc. as well. What's more, I can't see my document checklist until this is completed...

The system isn't set up to recognize this situation. Your Canadian partner doesn't fill out forms or submit any of his /her documents.

I agree - and I would have to fill in my partner's information in my own application of course. I had to fill in the Canadian citizenship information in three different places during the application, so technically the system "knows". However, what do I do in practice? Set the marital status to single and include an explanation letter? Leave common law status and add one item to each of the forms, so that the system allows me to move to the next page?

I would do the latter.

Canadian citizens cannot be co applicants on a PR application. Yes, it is messed up that the system doesn´t recognize this, but anywhere that it asksi for something from your spouse, just upload a statement that your spouse is a Canadian citizen, along with proof (.e.g scan of birth certificate or passport).
