Dear all,

We are moving to Canada soon which we are both anxious and excited about. The thing that has us the most nervous is the job part. We own a construction business in our home country. What I mean is that we invest in property, hire a company to build the buildings and then sell. We are not handymen ourselves which seems to be what people assume when I say we are in construction. We would like to continue this business in Canada but really don't have any information about how we would do this. This is why I'm reaching out to you. Is there anyone on here who could help with this? any information would be highly appreciated. Is there anyone in the construction business themselves that I could speak to perhaps? Or are there any support groups we can join that would answer such questions? Feeling truly lost and overwhelmed.

Try to look for info on real estate and not just construction business. All the best

Thought I replied to this question. You are not really moving to Canada at the ideal time as most real estate prices have increased over the past 20+ years so finding real estate development opportunities are harder to find and there are lots of people have been doing real estate development for a long time since it has been so lucrative and have a whole crew of workers and suppliers that they have worked with for a long time. The deals are getting harder to find and the lower risk easier money isn’t to find as it once was. Some people may be able to give you a bit of an overview but the business is quite secretive since developers want to keep their contacts, suppliers, real estate agents, etc. a secret so they can benefit from potential good deals. Really also depends where you are moving. Real estate is quite variable between cities and regions.
