Hello,
I am a Computer Science Engineering bachelor's under-graduate who wants to know the chances of my visa being rejected even after getting an offer letter from colleges.

- I will be applying for PG diploma courses related to my field in Canadian colleges.
- All the details that i find relevant are mentioned down below.

MY DETAILS:

1. 10th: 8.6
2. 12th: 73%
3. First attempt marks - B.E. with 47%(first attempt marks only) in last two years as mentioned on my final 8th sem marksheet.
4. Marks obtained after passing and aggregate them for all 4 years of B.E. - 57%
5. Approx 10 backlogs including repeat attempts
6. Majority of my backs were in 6th and 7th sem.
7. Cleared all the backs in Jan 2019 (my BE batch was 2014 - 2018.)
6. IELTS: 7(expected score)

From what I've been reading on the forums here, I gather that VOs reject student visas quite often in case of backlogs even if the student has an unconditional offer from a college and that has got me worried.

I'd be thankful if a senior/experienced member could look over the my details and let me know the chances of my visa being approved.
Links to any similar cases would also help (I've been looking around the forums for a while and have not found any case that resembles mine yet.)

Thank you for taking the time to read till the end.

Are you applying to public institutions in Canada or private ones that cater mostly to international students looking for visas?

Thank you for your prompt reply to my post.

I have shortlisted a few colleges for the moment, they are as follows
1. Conestoga College
2. St. Clair College
3. Lasalle College
4. George Brown College
5. Saskatchewan Polytechnic

Having said that, a public college would be my first preference and according to my consultant the ones mentioned above will admit a student with my academic record.

LaSalle College is not public. They will likely take you because their student population is primarily international students.

To answer your question - yes, visa officers have rejected applications with lots of backlogs. Search this forum for "backlogs".

Without your entire profile and being a visa officer, no one can tell you chances of being given a visa.

I did actually search the forums and have been reading for a few hours, i found a lot of mixed cases. Students with a backlogs more than me seem to get their permit but the scores they mentioned were higher than mine and they weren't from my field of education which is why i decided to post.
While reading i also found that even public colleges seem to accept students with low scores, but they are unable to get a student visa/permit.

Another question, In case of visa rejection what happens to the tuition fee and the GIC amount that has already been paid prior to visa application?

In your experience, is there anything i can do to increase my chances of getting the visa other than a strong SOP?

What happens in case of visa rejection depends on the institution. Check the refund policies on each. Some private colleges will fight to keep the money you paid.

I don't have much more advice other than a strong SOP and ties to your home country. Tell why you chose to study in Canada, why it has to be Canada and nowhere else, and the concrete reasons you will leave Canada.
