Study Permit Extension

Hi all,

My sister recently renewed her passport before applying for her study permit extension. However, during the application, she noticed the place of birth they put in the new passport is wrong. We contacted our country's embassy/high commission to have this changed. Therefore, they will be providing a new passport again.

Her study permit expires on November 30 and it is recommended on the website to apply at least 30 days before expiration, therefore October 31st. It is likely her passport won't arrive by October 31st (but we are hoping it arrives before November 30).

Should she go forward with her application with her current passport that has an incorrect place of birth?

Or

Wait for her new passport to arrive?

She can apply for the study permit extension up until her current permit actually expires. If the new passport hasn't arrived closer to the end of November, she can apply with this passport and a LOE.

She may as well wait as long as she can for the new passport before applying.
