Thanks for your reply. A few more follow up questions pls:
1. Assuming the medical expires in 12 months (i.e. March 2020) and my passport expires in April 2020, if approved, would I still be able to travel on current passport. Asking as this would not have a lot of validity left if I travel in let's say Jan/Feb 2020.
2. Alternatively, would you recommend that I apply for passport renewal now and send over new passport details when I have them to CIC? Or would this further complicate the process?
3. Once they issue a CoPR, would it be possible to renew my passport then and send them the new passport information?
4. Is there a number I can call to check this information from CIC?
BIG THANKS AGAIN!
No problem.

1. Assuming the medical expires in 12 months (i.e. March 2020) and my passport expires in April 2020, if approved, would I still be able to travel on current passport. Asking as this would not have a lot of validity left if I travel in let's say Jan/Feb 2020.
- I am not sure if it would be a good idea to cut it so close. I don't even know if they will issue a CoPR so close to passport expiry because they explicitly ask you to upload a passport which has at least 6 months validity. Now the situation is even more complex because yours took longer than 6 months.
2. Alternatively, would you recommend that I apply for passport renewal now and send over new passport details when I have them to CIC? Or would this further complicate the process?
- I think this is what I would do. You can always raise a CSE and update them via:
https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
If you're in the US this should take a few days and you'd be done. Also - now that we know you have RR on PoF it's not going to get approved super quickly, right?
3. Once they issue a CoPR, would it be possible to renew my passport then and send them the new passport information?
- I am not sure about this one either and I've read a few threads explaining that you might need a new CoPR. Again, further complicates the process.
4. Is there a number I can call to check this information from CIC?
- They've stopped taking calls from the US. you can get a canadian number from Textnow and call 1-888-242-2100.
The Webform link above is a very reliable way to call them.
