Hi friends,

I am doing 2-year Diploma in one private college located in Vancouver having DLI number. My college tied up with one public college located in Ontario. So we are doing that public college program at my college and my college management said we will get two diploma's after completion of course. I tried calling CIC customer support regarding this topic but they didn't give me an exact answer. My doubt is can I get a work permit without any problem?
Can I apply for a work permit with the diploma I got from public college? right now am doing the second semister...can I take a summer break? Taking summer break in diploma makes any problem getting work permit after completion of course?
Please help me with your valuable answers.
Thanks in advance. :)

Despite your college been a private school receiving courses offered by a public school doesn't mean your college is a public school.. Some private colleges are quick to mislead about PGWP issues so its best for you to confirm from CIC website if your school is among the few private colleges that have the benefits of PGWP

You can't take an unscheduled break for yourself that isn't approved by the school otherwise you will have issues.. play by the rules

Hi johnsonow 007
Thanks for your suggestion. Am on my scheduled college summer break. But last week I went through CIC website and found out that My canadian college students can't get work permit after the course. But my college management says this is new course.we are the first batch to do this course and we will get two diplomas one from my college(ie.private college) one from public college.(ie.located in other state) and we can apply for work permit with that public college diploma. I made a calls to CIC number of times. They will read the rules what they know! But know one is giving me an exact answer..I don't know whome to contact and who can help me.Am helpless

What is the private college name and what is the public college name? Can you link to the website of the program you applied to?

There are a few red flags I see here, first of all if this was a public college program being offered at a private college it should still appear in the list provided by CIC, like this example bellow.

You don't apply for PGWP with the certificate/diploma, so having a certificate from St Lawrence is not relevant, you will need to apply with the letter of completion and the the final transcripts, all of which will be from Canadian College, your DLI is also Canadian College.

Normally under these conditions you apply and are a student of the public college but you just conduct your classes at the private college.

And there is no mention of PGWP anywhere on Canadian College site, any college that can get you PGWP puts it on their site because it is a major selling point for international students.

Read reviews on Google and Yelp.

You will probably not get PGWP with this school.
