Anyone get approved for the federal skilled workers visa as a welder?
If you are applying through federal skilled worker, then it's the same as anyone else. You create an Express Entry profile and need to wait to be selected. Selection is points-based and right now you need to have 450-460 to be chosen.

Ok, I thought they were in demand and got chosen for visas like the other class B jobs.

Nope. Recommend you do a lot more research.

There are two federal programs - federal skilled worker (which is the one you asked about) - and then also federal skilled trades. For the first one, as said above, you go through Express Entry like everyone else and selection is entirely based on points. For the second, you need either an LMIA supported job offer in Canada or you will need to hold a certificate of qualification in that trade that was issued by a Canadian province or at the federal level.

I did look into it, the minimum points are 67 I have 85. For the class B you dont need a job offer in order to make your profile. I'm getting this from canadas site.

The 67 points is only the minimum criteria to qualify. This doesn't determine if you are selected under FSW. All this does is determine if you meet the minimum requirements to qualify.

To actually be selected, you need to create an Express Entry profile and determine your CRS points (this is different than the 67 FSW points). To be selected for PR right now, you need to have in the range of 450-460 CRS points.

And yes - agreed you don't need a job offer if you apply through FSW/Express Entry. But you do need 450-460 points.
