Can I get student permit if I already have visitor permit?

Hello,

I am asking behalf of my brother. My brother has just finished his study in India and is planning to come on September 2020 intake for further study in Canada. But he wants to meet my newborn here in Canada. So Meanwhile, if he comes to visit Canada for a month around Dec 2019 on visitor Visa, is there any risk if he will have any trouble in getting student permit in September 2020 intake?

It is possible.My nephew went as a visitor and he got his student visa later on.Too much of paper work needed but it's possible

Thank you for your response but just want to understand why and what kind of extra paper work will be needed? But my brother will come back from Canada in Jan, 2020 on visitor visa and he will go on student permit in September, 2020. Still it will be more paperwork?
Then do you suggest he shouldn’t come on visitor if he wants to come on student permit in future?

No risk...

As long as he will go back to his home country after the specific time (being indicated by Officer at Port of Entry when he will come to CANADA).

Afterward, he just needs to fulfill the requirements of Study VISA Application.

I don’t think any paperwork is needed. I have a valid visitor visa and i went there last year and I’ve applied for a study visa last week without any additional documents. I just attached a scanned copy of my visitor visa and passport stams.
