Time to get PR card + COPR expiry date

HI,

I need a wise advice on a choice I have to make. I got COPR a month ago so I'm planning to leave for Canada very soon. The only problem is that I would like to spend Christmas with my family and my elderly grandparents. I initially had in mind to leave in October, request my PR card and return to Italy in December and then leave again for Canada [one-way flight this time] in early January 2020, but my fear is that I will not be able to get the card by December 2019 [in 50/60 days], also I don’t know if it is a good thing to leave Canada as soon as I get the card. I am therefore considering spending Christmas directly here in my home country and then leaving without any stress. In addition, I would have a paranoid-type of question: my COPR will expire February 2020. It is written that I must enter Canada by that date. I take it for granted that this does not also mean having my PR card by that date but literally ONLY entering Canada.

Thank you for any advice you can provide! :)

Your choice. The CoPR expiry date is just thst, the date by which you MUST land in Canada and declare PR by, nothing to do with the downstream PR card.

Strongly suggest not leaving it to the last few days, as if for any reason you are late (personal illness, flite cancelled, airline strike etc.) And your CoPR has expired, you will have to start all over again.

Thanks for the reply. My COPR will expire by February 20th and I plan to leave late December 2019 or early January 2020 at most…
