Hi

I'm a Canadian planning to sponsor my Japanese wife inland from Toronto in December. We have put together most of the documentation in preparation for that including a police certificate from Japan and Australia where she has lived previously tied to her current passport number.

Her passport is going to expire in August of 2020, and we plan to renew it at the consulate of Japan in Toronto.

My question is if this would negatively influence her application which would be 8 months in process at that point? Or is it just simply a matter of informing the IRCC of the new passport number once renewed?

Thanks in advanced.

Not a problem. Send CIc a scan of the bio pages with passport no in a case specific enquiry.

By not a problem you mean we can just process the application normally with the current passport and just renew the passport/get a new one before the current one expires and just inform IRCC during the application process?
Also what's Clc?

CIC = Canadian Immigration and Citizenship (aka IRCC).

They link the PA passport details to the CoPR, so if you renew before CoPR issue, send copy new passport to CIC so they link to new passport. If you renew after CoPR issue, travel with both old and new passport and show the CBSA agent both when you land to activate the CoPR
