Want to receive SMS on Pakistani number in Canada

I am keeping some banking services in my home country. Some of them send out OTP codes to mobile phone via SMS to log in / making transactions. I was wondering if I would have to enable roaming services to continue receiving text messages or does it happen automatically?

you need to contact your bank and update your phone number to a canadian one if yours is a non resident account.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking too. Although it might take me some time. Meanwhile, would my sim card continue receiving texts while I'm there? I don't want to send out texts, just be able to receive them.

Not in Canada rn. Will be flying in a couple of months.

Will definitely try it out. Otherwise, the safest option to update my number with the banks.
