We are from Italy. When I have applied for mine and mynwife temporary working visa, I ha ve also applied for a super parent visa for my two kids thinking that having the same lenght (2 years) was the most logic visa to apply for. But the embassy widhraw the kids application so I thought they did not need any visa and an eTA would have been enough. Last night I have found out that if you want to apply for the NSP you have to attach a visa also for your kids and that request makes me write on this forum.
That is why I think you are right....a TRV is necessasry.
I will apply today hoping to get the visa before our departur date (22 of october) hoping to get the visa for my kids in time.
Suppose I will not get their visa in time, once I land in Canada on a one way flight, am I going to have problem at the border?

I have just completed the questionnaire applying for my first son saying that I will visit Canada for more than 6 months but at the end the system is telling me that I am eligible to apply for an eTA. Actually reading carfully the letter my child get from the embassy few months ago, is written "as a visa exempt national you are not required to obtain a temporary resident visa prior to entering Canada, as a result your apllication has been cancelled"
I wonder now what eventually do for the NSP application later... will they get a TRV automatically once landed in Canada or will I have to reapply for them once we will be there?

if you're from Italy then you don't need to apply for a TRV. you just need ETA .
just book a fight to land in Canada, and when CBSA ask any questions, be honest about it and you shouldn't have any problem.
and when you are inside of Canada, don't think about any other option , just apply for a visitor record.

It's a fairly easy application ,you can apply online via your IRCC account . Just do it 30 days before your status expiry date .
So if your visa exempt you get 6 months automatically when you arrive. Then if you want to stay beyond that because say your parent is sponsoring you for PR, you put an application in for the visitor record 30 days before the 6 months is up and that means you can stay till your PR is approved. I'm talking about a PR bringing their non PR child to Canada. Have I got that right?
Lookking at some of your posts there are examples of 2 families that don’t meet their RO. Although most visa exempt visitors arriving in get 6 months it isn’t guaranteed neither are extensions especially multiple times. Us the child the only one without PR? Are both parents PRs and ar3 they compliant with their RO?
