Hi all,
Just did my soft landing today.
They did ask for POF - but this is after I declared I did not bring in more than $10,000 Canadian dollars. My POF is in an account in Singapore, which could be withdrawn in Canada via ATM but at the actual point of declaration we only had like $2000 in cash. That was why I decided to not check YES. I didn’t get into trouble, and the CBSA people were so nice and funny - I should write a commendation for them tomorrow or something. I showed them my bank balance statement that showed that I had $xxxxx in my Singapore account. That’s was it.
They didn’t check any of my other documents such as degrees or work evidences. They just needed my COPR, passports, goods accompanying and goods to follow forms.
So be aware of what you declare, if unsure, declare YES to save your ass. You won’t be in trouble unless you have not met an actual or important requirement or prerequisite. And also, different events may happen to different people. I did my processing in Ottawa.
The checking in kiosk failed for us so we just went to the passport stamp and check, then collect our luggages, then to immigration for an hour’s queue to verify COPR, then to submit the GA and GTF forms. All were done pretty fast.
Cheers everyone I hope God brings you all here too. I was destined to live a poor and meaningless life but somehow I have escaped, and am grateful to Canada for giving me and my family another chance to succeed again.
A
