I checked my copy of imm 5406e many times today, I did nothing wrong with it, any idea how I can figure this issue out? Thank you very much!

Check relationship column. Noticed this was the common thing missing from a few applications here.

If I have linked my application to my CIC account , will i still be receiving emails for updates or i have to track the application online ???

You will still receive emails for AOR, SA, PPR, etc.
But, For Medical request, Biometric request, etc, they will post it in your online account and you will receive an email saying, there's a new message in your online account.
