Still unsure whether there is a minimum duration for the second certificate/diploma (besides bachelors).

I have a 3-year diploma (bachelors) and I want to complete a 6 months post university. Will I fit under "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years" ?

Hi dear,

I believe the minimum requirement for the other certificate in order to get 2 or more points is 1 year completion of post secondary education (year 12). As CIC don't award any points for high school education. This can be one year college level certificate, diploma or degree.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/read-report.html

If your qualification is your overseas then your ECA should reflect the same as Express entry system will award points based on the ECA report.

My qualification were Australian 8 months diploma and 2 years bachelor . I got lateral admission for my bachelor as my credit from 8 months diploma was equal to 1 year university study so I started my bachelor degree in 2nd year straightaway. My ECA report result for these qualification was completion of college level certificate (1 year) and 3 years bachelor degree. I got points for 2 or more certificate for these credentials.

For WES, I think the credits you earn from your studies are more important than the length of your studies. So, that is why my 8 months diploma was awarded as 1 year college certificate.

Hope this helps. Good luck

Hello Folks

I have a major confusion here. Any help from experts is really appreciated.

My Wes evaluation report is bachelors (4years) which was a regular degree program and post graduate (1-year) which wasn’t a regular program but I have attended online lectures and classes.

This comes under ‘two and more degree’ category. While filling details in my express entry profile, I had marked the post graduate as well to be regular because my WES ECA didn’t mention Long distance. I am claiming experience marks for the same year as my master which is 2014-2016. There were two option whether this is part time education or full time education. It doesn’t change or affect the CRS irrespective of then option I chose.

Do you guys think this might be a problem? Do I need to raise a web form and inform cic that it was a long distance education?

Appreciate your advice folks! Please :)
Thanks

@legalfalcon Sir, will really appreciate your feedback here.

Thank you, really appreciate the time you took to reply.

One more question tho. If the post uni courses calendaristically take one year to complete but it's divided into 2 modules of 8 weeks (so it's not one year of continuous studying), that wouldn't help with CRS, right?

Hhhmmm....I'm not so sure, Unless those modules are worth 1 year cedit of Canadian study (certificate or diploma or degree) then I think the assessing body will award the study as one year length.

For instance, my diploma of 8 months was conducted in 2 semester sessions which were 14weeks long each session with 2 weeks semester brea after each session. Each semester, I studied four courses which was worth 100 credits so 2 semesters study was worth 200 credits which is equal to one year bachelor study. So, Even though I studied for 7 months in total (excluding the semester breaks) It was awarded as 1 year because it was worth one year credit.

So,it's all gonna be depends on your ECA report at the end.

All the best

Hello Everyone, can you please help me so i can submit my profil before the next draw.
I just had an ECA from WES precising in the summary: Master's degree. Under the Credential analysis section are only two subsections the first is 'Secondary school diploma' awarded in 2007 and the 2nd is 'Bachelor's and master's degree' awarded in 2012. In fact, i've sent to WES Three different diplomas (Secondary diploma + Preparatory Classes + Engeneering school). When filling my express entry profil, do i have to mention all these study experiences under the Study details section or i will only have to mention the last study experience in Engeneering School ? I'm only asking because i think that if i mention all study experiences i will have to provide all transcripts (and ask all institutions like i did for WES..).

thank you in advance

You only need to submit the final degrees/diplomas to IRCC after ITA. If your equivalency is Masters, then just the highest degree is enough. If I understood your question correctly, then your ECA just mentions 2 Equivalency, 1 is Secondary School Diploma and the other as "Bachelors and Masters degree". If that is the case, then just mention the degrees for the highlighted equivalency.

Hi. I apologize, i really want to make sure, below is my study history, and this is what i sent to WES:

2005-2007: High School, in institution A, degree: Diploma of Baccalaureate
2007-2009: Preparatory Classes for engeneering schools, in institution B, degree: Certificate of achievement
2009-2012: Engeneering school in institution C, degree: Engineering Diploma

In WES report is mentioned:

CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY: Master's degree
CREDENTIAL ANALYSIS:

1. Name on Credential: My Name
Credential Authentication: Documents were sent directly by the institution
Country: Morocco
Credential: Diplôme du Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement Secondaire
(Diploma of Baccalaureate of Secondary Education)
Year: 2007
Awarded By: Ministry of National Education
Major: General Academic
Canadian Equivalency: Secondary school diploma

2. Name on Credential: My Name
Credential Authentication: Documents were sent directly by the institution
Country: Morocco
Credential: Diplôme d'Ingénieur d'Etat
(State Engineering Diploma)
Year: 2012
Awarded By: Mohammed V University, Agdal
Status: Recognized Institution
Major: Computer Engineering
Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's and master's degree

My wife's report is the same, now the 'Education' section of the EE application specifically states to list the 'High School' and 'Post-Secondary' education credentials, and i assume that if we do so, we'll have to provide documentation for all that history (after ITA) and what bothers us is that we will have to ask the three institutions again for transcripts like we did when preparing WES documents.

In addition, should i make three entries in my EE profile since i have 2 diplomas and 1 certificate or only two entries ? Because the WES report only mentioned 2 entries (they merged the 2 years certificate and the 3 years engeneering diploma in one)

Thank you in advance

Hi, you just need to mention the details about the highlighted credential. You don't need to enter the Secondary School Diploma.

Here is how you can fill details in the EE profile:

2007-2009: Preparatory Classes for engineering schools, in institution B, degree: Certificate of achievement
Under ECA Details select Masters degree as equivalency

2009-2012: Engeneering school in institution C, degree: Engineering Diploma
Under ECA Details select Masters degree as equivalency

This was you will only get points for a Master degree which is your highest degree. And after ITA, you only need to upload the diploma/degree/certificate from these two credentials.

I hope this helps!

Hi Maverick28, i really appreciate your help, i was looking in other threads while waiting for some answer on this one, i'm a little bit lost because in the thread below, some people didn't mention their high school data when creating their profiles but then once they received ITA, they started to worry about mentionning that information in their history, some replies in that thread advised them to reject the ITA and enter their high school data before submitting again, others advised them to provide a LOE saying that they just omitted high school information while creating their profiles.
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/high-school-educational-history-diploma-and-transcript-after-ita.384758/

I personnaly prefer to get high school documentation rather than not mentionning it and then providing LOE.

In addition, for the 2 years preparatory classes, why should i select Masters degree as equivalency under ECA Details, i mean it's only 2 years, maybe: 'Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical school or other institure', is it because WES says 'Masters degree' ?

Thanks a lot

That's your choice. IRCC is only concerned with the highest degree. You don't have to reject ITA, or explain that in LOE if you do not mention high school data if you have a Bachelors or Masters degree.

Yes because the ECA from WES says so.

Thanks a lot

Hi Maverick28 excuse me please as i'm asking a lot of questions, we've been waiting for this answer in order to modify what we filled before we can submit.

I understand now that High School diploma is to be deleted, and we'll do only as follow:

2007-2009:
Name of school/institution: Institution B,
Level of education: Master's degree
had an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) within the past five years: Yes
Level of education shown on (ECA) report: Master's degree

2009-2012:
Name of school/institution: Institution C,
Level of education: Master's degree
had an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) within the past five years: Yes
Level of education shown on (ECA) report: Master's degree

Is that right ?

Knowing that the name of the 2 institutions are not mentionned on the wes report, the name in the report [in front of awarded by: ] is the one of the university to which the engineering school (institution C) belongs, but i don't think it's going to be a problem.

I appreciate your replies, our data will be updated as mentionned above.

Hello experts community; I am happy that this sub-topic is discussed here, I am in the same situation (2y pre-engineering classes before entering engineering school), except that I received ITA 2 weeks ago.

while filling my profile I did this:

2010 to 2012:
Name of school/institution: Académie de Paris - Lycée Henri IV
Nb of years: 2
Full time: Yes
Level of education: Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical school or other institute
Had an ECA: Yes
Level of education shown on (ECA) report: Master's degree

2012 to 2015:
Name of school/institution: Université de Lorraine - Ecole des Mines de Nancy
Nb of years: 3
Full time: Yes
Level of education: Master's degree
Had an ECA: Yes
Level of education shown on (ECA) report: Master's degree
So I split in two what is in the WES report in a single entry under ‘Bachelor's and master's degree’

Now I'm starting to doubt and I think I should have filled a single entry from 2010 to 2015 under the Master's Degree equivalence, and then provide the transcripts of the pre-engineering classes and the engineering school as well as the copy of the diploma, logically because in Wes's report this split was not done.

I think i should have filled that way:

2010 to 2015:
Name of school/institution: Université de Lorraine (without specifying the name of any school)
Level of education: Master's degree
Had an ECA: : Yes
Level of education shown on (ECA) report: Master's degree

This is annoying me so much and i can’t find information on any forums in internet.

Regards

No worries, I am happy to help and clear the confusion.

In the highlighted section, you should mention the actual level of your degree/diploma.
