I live in america currently going for a university
i'm thinking of seeking asylum in Canada after i finish university
I have a question if get a transit only permit and get a flight from USA to Canada
could i ask for asylum in the airport?

Just go to roxham road crossing Hussain and walk in to Canada. RCMP will welcome you in to Canada and hand you a work permit and send your claim for processing. If your asylum claim gets denied, you will have the option to keep appealing until it's granted. You honestly have nothing to lose!

Either claim asylum in the US or return home.

There's no way for you to claim asylum through a legal entry into Canada. You would have to enter Canada illegally.

You would NOT get shot by the Canadian police/CBSA. You may be deported, yes, but they're not going to summarily execute you just for trying to enter Canada.

If your visa has expired, a transit visa / TRV will not be approved.

If you are able to get a transit visa approved, your flight cannot end in Canada. If you only buy a flight from the US to Canada - you need a TRV.

Do you have valid status in the US?

Where are you going to be flying to from the US? Note that your flight cannot end in Canada if you are flying on a transit visa. Canada can only be a stop on your journey.
