Hi all, I'm sponsoring my common-law partner and we're not sure how much I need to prove I can support him. I'm a student and only recently got a full-time job in the summer. The income isn't shown in my Notice of Assessment or Proof of Income (Option C) from the CRA though (the previous year only shows my income as a few hundred, from tutoring).

Is this a problem? Should I write a note explaining that I only got the job recently, I'm a student, my partner can support himself on his own income (he has a full-time job and is on a working holiday visa), etc? Much appreciate any help.

Yes, you need to explain how you will support yourselves.
