NOC 1111

Dear All,

Can someone explain the following part mentioned in the NOC code 1111:

"Chartered professional accountants, chartered accountants (CPA, CA) require a university degree and completion of a professional training program approved by a provincial Institute of Chartered Accountants and, depending on the province, either two years or 30 months of on-the-job training and membership in a provincial Institute of Chartered Accountants upon successful completion of the Uniform Evaluation (UFE)"

The last part of this para talks about "membership in a provincial Institute of Chartered Accountants upon successful completion of the Uniform Evaluation (UFE)". Since I am from India do I read it as membership in a provincial Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or does it include only CPAs from provinces of Canada?

Just to give a brief, there is a final examination for Chartered Accountants in India but the term UFE isn't used so I am confused whether an Indian CA fulfilling all the above conditions in India is eligible for applying under this NOC or not?

Do let me know if you need more clarifications for answering the above.

It just means you need a license from your Provincial authority to practice in Canada. This is just like an engineer, doctor, nurse or anyone else that needs Professional Credentials before practicing. It has nothing to do with India. An Indian course may help; but this is for those that wish to practice in Canada.
So in short to get a job in Canada you must ask the licensing authority what courses you need. You then take them and graduate. BUT the licensing authority will demand you pass their tests or you do not get a license. It is to ensure consistancy and professionalism within Canada. Consider it a final, final exam.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't thought of practicing in Canada yet. Currently I have plans of looking for a job in Canada. From your reply I understand that in order to use this NOC code I will need to get a membership from CPA Canada and for practice I will need a license and that without a qualification certificate from CPA Canada I will not be able to use this NOC code. Is that correct?

You can just use your present status and education for immigration. Worry about all the other stuff ie. iicsencing and education later.
